The Red Dot: Junior Prize went to German design newcomer Konrad Rappaport for his work “Next Generation Scientific Poster”: an interactive poster which provides scientific topics with an attractive visualisation and thus makes them more comprehensible. Among others, BBDO Germany was very happy about its Red Dot: Grand Prix for the donation campaign “The Ant Rally”. The agency Solidere also received a Red Dot: Grand Prix for its excellently designed annual report “The Chronicle”, which documents more than 20 years of Beirut`s town history and development.
During the Red Dot Gala, Scholz & Friends was honoured for the continuous and outstanding achievements of the agency group: it was presented with the honorary title “Red Dot: Agency of the Year 2014”. With this distinction, which no agency can apply for, Red Dot recognises the high creative- and design performance of the company with head offices in Berlin and Hamburg. Frank-Michael Schmidt, CEO of the Scholz and Friends Group, and Matthias Spaetgens, Managing Director Creation in Berlin, accepted the distinction in person.
Mauro Porcini, Chief Designer of PepsiCo took a flight from New York to Berlin to accept the special distinction “Red Dot: Client of the Year”. As a food and beverage concern, PepsiCo has numerous top brands which were awarded with a total of nine Red Dots in 2014. The festive awarding ceremony was traditionally hosted by Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot. About 1,400 guests were impressed by the bravest campaigns and the best designs of the year.
The Flying Steps were in charge for the musical entertainment. With its moves, a mixture of breakdance and jazz dance, the urban dance crew enthralled the audience. The synthie pop band Camouflage also showed up to celebrate their Red Dot for the CD package “The Box”, designed by Feedback Media, at the Red Dot Gala and its after show party.
After the Red Dot Gala, the crowd moved to the E-Werk Berlin for the legendary Designers’ Night. DJ Chrissi D! from the Ruhr Area made the guests dance. During the official party, the exhibition “Design on Stage” was also on show and presented award-winning communication design on the highest level. Here, the Red Dot: Agency of the Year had a premiere: in an exclusive area of the winners exhibition, visitors were guests in the “Scholz & Friends Living Room”.
