Dimensions of design. For the Romans, the bath was an institution. It was part of daily life to take time to relax on a large scale. Today, the bath is more important than ever, since it is one of the last bastions of relaxation. Free from the demands, the daily hustle and bustle, and the noise of the environment one searches for calmness in the bath – having time for yourself and your body is the “modern luxury”. The Axor Citterio bathtub and washstand combination creates a design of relaxation with large dimensions and newly interpreted transitions.

As a result of cultivation and embankments water has often lost its force today. The design of the Axor Starck X single-lever washstand mixer by Philippe Starck attempts to model this aspect of water’s ungovernable force and “abundance as a principle” has deliberately been chosen as a design maxim.
