Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018 – Fair adjudication of the products live and on site

Manufacturers and designers can enter their best products at the regular rate up until 16 January 2018. “Latecomers” still have until 9 February to register. In March 2018, the jury members will convene for an adjudication process spanning several days in order to test and assess the products.

2007 was a successful year all round for BMW: in addition to several red dot awards, the title of red dot: design team of the year also went to the car manufacturer. Chris Bangle and the Design Team BMW Group thus received the highest award granted by an international jury as part of the acclaimed red dot design award. Issued annually since 1988, the award honours design teams that set standards through continual design innovation.

For the occasion of judging the red dot award: product design 2008, red dot announced four volunteer positions and selected four young students from numerous applications who now have the chance to see the newest and most innovative products from around the world gathered in one place, and look over the shoulders of acclaimed design experts during the judging process.

red dot academy hosted the inaugural session of a series of evening talks on business and design on 9 January at the red dot design museum in Singapore. “How to protect your designs - exploring strategies for Intellectual Property protection” was the topic for the evening. Speaker Gregory Ong, a solicitor of Gregory Ong & Co., is a strong advocate of intellectual property rights and protection. He spoke about how a good understanding of intellectual property rights over designs will help designers make important, educated decisions on how to properly and cost-effectively protect their designs against unauthorised copying and activities of infringement.
