Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018 – Fair adjudication of the products live and on site

Manufacturers and designers can enter their best products at the regular rate up until 16 January 2018. “Latecomers” still have until 9 February to register. In March 2018, the jury members will convene for an adjudication process spanning several days in order to test and assess the products.

On ergon and nomos. The term ergonomics is a hybrid word, derived from the Greek “ergon” (work) and “nomos” (law or rule). Today, ergonomics is an internationally valid maxim in design, and the T20 / T24 SP stand-on electric pallet truck designed by the Linde design team is just another example of how sophisticated design can effectively improve the working environment.

In the spirit of the old masters – platforms for contemporary living. What constitutes living design? Or what meaning can a national design tradition acquire today? These are important questions that also arose for the Scandinavian designers of the Pinc House when, as furniture designers, they had been looking for a new house. But the designers from what was later to become the design studio Pinc House could not find a prefabricated house that would fulfil their needs. Relying on their own fate and skills, they soon realised their first model, the Pinc House Sport 70.

Three stripes, three divisions – one design strategy The adidas design department, under the guidance of Michael Michalsky, has been chosen as design team of the year 2005. With this title, the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen annually honours a design team for their outstanding design achievements in the international “red dot award: product design” competition. Michalsky himself will receive the award on behalf of the whole design team on 4 July 2005 at the “red dot award: product design” ceremony gala in the Aalto Theatre of Essen, Germany.
