Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018 – Fair adjudication of the products live and on site

Manufacturers and designers can enter their best products at the regular rate up until 16 January 2018. “Latecomers” still have until 9 February to register. In March 2018, the jury members will convene for an adjudication process spanning several days in order to test and assess the products.

On 27 October, the winners of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design were celebrated.Sarah Müller from the School of Design Ravensburg now holds the Red Dot: Junior Prize. She convinced the jury with her book “See Acoustics – Rhapsody in Blue”.

On 19 October 2017, the Museum opened its doors at the present location at the Marina Bay. After some transformations, the iconic edifice now includes several galleries and showcases an exhibition of over 345 futuristic concept.

On 14 November 2017, the International Yearbook Communication Design 2017/2018 was published in the Red Dot Edition. All works which readers can discover in the latest Red Dot yearbook were granted a prize by an international jury in the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017.


Richard Sapper Exhibition in Berlin

Until 13 March 2005, visitors have the opportunity to see works by designer Richard Sapper in the stilwerk Berlin. The exhibition was set up to celebrate Sapper’s being awarded “Designer of the Year 2005” by the magazine “Architektur & Wohnen” (architecture and living).


Revitalisation of Iconic Chair

The California-based design studio BMW Group DesignworksUSA and an aluminium chair company, Emeco have revitalised an iconic Emeco chair popular in the 1950s. The recreation was prompted by the discovery of the original chair on the auction website eBay. Designed by Adrian van Hooydonk, the modern “1951” version will debut at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, taking place from April 13 to April 19, 2005.

The death of the universal consumer After the race for the best technical innovations in the last years, companies now increasingly focus on sophisticated designs meeting the demands of target-groups in order to keep their position in the competition. The consumer’s needs are coming more and more into the spotlight, when it comes to finding the ideal form for a product. This was shown by observations during the selection process of the red dot award: product design 2005.
