Karim Rashid

Karim Rashid, born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1960, graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, with a Bachelor of Industrial Design in 1982. He continued his studies in Italy with Ettore Sottsass, among others. After working with Rodolfo Bonetto and KAN, he founded his own studio in New York in 1993. He quickly became one of the most popular designers on an international scale. His products such as the “Garbo” wastepaper basket have become design icons and are exhibited in different museum collections all around the world. Karim Rashid was an associate Professor of Industrial Design for 10 years and is now a frequent guest lecturer at universities and conferences globally.
