Ron Arad's rocking chairs, for the first time made of Corian
Ron Arad
Installation "lo-rez-dolores-tabula-rasa"

Exhibition: Ron Arad in Milan

Ron Arad is exhibiting two works that were created in cooperation with DuPont Corian for the Milan Furniture Fair from April 14-19, 2004. The objects are on display in the gallery Gio' Marconi, via Tadino 15, in Milan.

"lo-rez-tabula-raza" is an installation that appeals to all of the senses with flighty images, music and voices. Seemingly simple white walls and objects are brought to life through projections. The images disappear as quickly as they appear – what remains is the tabula rasa.

"oh void" is a study about sitting furniture. Ron Arad's famous rocking chairs were for the first time made from Corian, which allows the chairs to be given a special structure and colorization.

Ron Arad was born in 1951 in Tel Aviv and attended the Jerusalem Academy of Art before going to London in 1973. In 1989 he founded Ron Arad Associates together with Caroline Thorman. Every year they publish a limited edition of experimentally inspired hand-made objects.

Ron Arad was a professor of product design at the University for Applied Arts in Vienna and a professor of furniture design at the Royal College of Art in London, where he is currently professor of design products. Among other awards, he was named Designer of the Year 2004 by the magazine "Architektur und Wohnen".
