New quality of design promotion on bilateral level

Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen enters into co-operation with Hungary

The Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and the Hungarian Design Council are striving for a new form of co-operation in the coming year. This was announced by Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, manager of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and initiator of the renowned red dot design award, at the competition’s presentation of prizes on the stage of the Essen Aalto Theatre on the evening of 5th July.

Co-operating with other European design centres is nothing new for the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. In projects and in the international associations, this has happened for years on a regular basis. However, the collaboration with the Hungarian Design Council brings a new quality to the co-operation with European design centres. "We will annually elect a partner organisation to strengthen the European network and promote the communication. As one of the largest and most active design centres in the field of design promotion, we would also like to demonstrate ways of promoting design nationally to up-and-coming design nations," thus Prof. Dr. Peter Zec explains the motivation behind the partner programme.

Judit Várhelyi, director of the Hungarian Design Council, is looking forward to the co-operation: "A strong partner such as the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen will help us to gain visibility in Europe, since yet few people know that many of the brightest creative people of the 20th century actually come from Hungary."

The Hungarian Design Council and the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen are planning to increase their presence in the respective partner country in the coming year.
