red dot goes Dubai – special exhibition and red dot reception
With 80 products from 19 countries, red dot will be present from December 3 to 7, 2008 at the exhibition ‘Design on stage – Index presents red dot winners’ at ‘Index 2008’, the world’s largest interior design trade fair in the Middle East and Asia. Over 30,000 visitors from all over the world are expected to attend the fair, and the “red dot” winners in the exhibition will be showcased over a four-day period. On December 6, the ‘red dot reception’ will take place at the trade fair. This networking event serves as a platform for interaction between exhibitors and international customers. At the ‘red dot reception’, Professor Dr. Peter Zec, head of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, initiator of the red dot design award and Senator of the Icsid will speak about the activities of red dot in the Arab world and its cooperation with dmg world media.
The ‘red dot reception’ will take place in the Bubble Lounge of the Dubai International Exhibition Hall. At the ‘red dot book signing ceremony’ on the afternoon of December 5, there is an opportunity to have an exclusive copy of the red dot design yearbook 2008/2009 autographed by Peter Zec at the red dot exhibition. In the red dot edition, Peter Zec publishes the annual international yearbooks for the red dot design award. The yearbooks present the results of one of the world’s most important competitions in the field of international product and communication design and have gained a reputation as a popular reference work for the most recent industry trends.
red dot will be showing the exhibition ‘Design on stage – Index presents red dot winners’ at stand P 31 in the Zabeel Hall. “The Middle East is an exciting region with lots of potential and huge significance for 21st-century design,” says Peter Zec. He believes that presenting to an international audience gives the companies taking part a unique opportunity to tap new markets.
The red dot design award
The red dot design award dates back to 1955. With around 11,000 entries from over 60 nations, the award is now the world’s largest and most distinguished design competition. It breaks down into the three different disciplines ‘red dot award: product design’, ‘red dot award: communication design’ and ‘red dot award: design concept’, which has been awarded in Singapore every year since 2005.
With almost 36,000 square meters of exhibiting space, Index 2008 is the largest interior design trade fair in the Middle East and Asia. The trade fair is taking place in the Dubai International Exhibition Centre for the 18th time this year. Index is organized by dmg world media Dubai Ltd., a subsidiary of the dmg world media group of companies, one of the largest trade fair organizers and publishing houses worldwide. With more than 400 square meters of exhibiting space, red dot will constitute the main attraction at the trade fair, which is expected to attract roughly 1,700 exhibitors from 56 nations.
