Support for young designers
The Red Dot Young Professionals programme
The Red Dot Award: Product Design addresses professional designers and companies that produce their submitted products in series. Knowing that young graduates who just have entered the design profession only have a little budget available, the Red Dot Young Professionals programme has been launched. Once a year, on the Young Professionals Application Day, designers who have obtained their academic qualifications within the past five years, have the chance to take part in the draw for one of 50 free registrations for the Red Dot Award: Product Design.
Besides costless participation in the competition, the young professionals benefit from the free presentation of their products in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen and Red Dot Design Yearbook, as well as from the use of the Red Dot winner label in case of being awarded.
Red Dot: Junior Award
As part of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design, the Red Dot: Junior Award is intended for up and coming young designers. Especially young designers have fresh ideas and produce outstanding creative works. Therefore, the Red Dot: Junior Award aims at providing creative young professionals a successful start into the world of design and to make access to the industry and agencies easier for new talents. Apprentices, students and young professionals (up to two years post-graduation) run the chance to apply for the distinction “Red Dot”.
The talents must show proof of their apprenticeship, a student identity card or a copy of their diploma in order to get a 20% discount on the registration fee. Besides the distinctions “Red Dot” and “Red Dot: Best of the Best”, the jury awards the Red Dot: Junior Prize, endowed with 10,000 Euros. It goes to the best project of an up and coming young designer. Morover, all laureates of the Red Dot: Junior Award receive a 40% discount on the winner package. It includes the presentation in the yearbook, in the Winners’ Exhibition, online and in the Red Dot App.
