The Product Design competition has existed since 1954. Its award, the Red Dot, is an internationally recognised quality seal. The best products receive the Red Dot: Best of the Best award.

The competition for Design Concepts and prototypes is held annually in Singapore. The highest award for the best of all concepts is the Red Dot: Luminary which includes prize money of SGD 5,000.

“Design on Stage”: exhibition of international top achievements at the Red Dot Design Museum Essen

From emotional home robot to innovative sun umbrella to aesthetic chair: award-winning products from all fields of everyday life are currently in the focus of the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany. In the former boiler house of the Zollverein coal mine World Heritage Site, visitors discover the best products of the year in the exhibition “Design on Stage – Winners Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017” until 6 August. More than 1.000 innovations and well-designed products from 42 countries present the state of the art in industrial design. More

Red Dot Gala 2017: The best designers and manufacturers of the year were recognised

On 3 July 2017, the international design scene convened in Essen’s Aalto-Theater for the Red Dot Gala. During the gala, the laureates of the Red Dot Award: Product Design were duly celebrated and the Red Dot: Best of the Best winners received their trophies. The Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2017, the Canyon Design Team, won over the crowd with an extraordinary appearance. Afterwards, the party went on well into the early hours at the Designers’ Night in the Red Dot Design Museum in the midst of the award-winning products. More

With the sense of good communication design and creativity: the jury 2017 (part 5)

The heart of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design is the jury. With its expertise, it assesses thousands of submissions each year on the basis of established criteria. In 2017, there are 24 globally recognised experts who meet in Essen, Germany, to jointly decide in a multi-day process about the awarding of the coveted label “Red Dot”. Some of these experts are repeatedly part of the jury. Among others Johnason Lo, Niels Schrader and Peter Philippe Weiss will select the winners of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017. Top honour for first-class achievement – Canyon is Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2017

The title of honour “Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2017” goes to Koblenz: The Canyon Design Team will be included in the “Hall of Fame” of international design for its consistent and unparalleled design performance. This year alone, two bicycles were awarded the top award, Red Dot: Best of the Best. The constant best achievements and new impetus in the industry will be honoured on 3 July as part of the Red Dot Gala, when the designers from Canyon will receive their trophy and thus the “Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2017” title on stage at Essen’s Aalto-Theater. Award-winning design and its makers: the “Omni Nightclub Taipei”

In February, 39 experts from all over the world convened in Essen to assess thousands of objects for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 in a process spanning several days. Only designs that won over the jury with their high design quality were awarded the sought-after distinction “Red Dot”, and the best of them received the highest award “Red Dot: Best of the Best” – among them: the Omni Nightclub Taipei by The LOOP Inc., designed by Etai-Space Design Office. The Red Dot Design Museum Singapore relocates to Marina Bay

In 1955, the “Ständige Schau formschöner Industrieerzeugnisse” (Permanent Show of Elegant Industrial Products) was established in Villa Hügel in Essen, Germany. It evolved over the years to become the Red Dot Design Museum. Today, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany presents the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design. It currently houses around 2,000 international design objects in the former boiler house of the Zeche Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex. All exhibits are award-winning design works from the Red Dot Design Award which is organised in three disciplines: product design, communication design and design concept. More

Communication design on the highest level: excellent Annual Reports

For 25 years the Red Dot Award: Communication Design has provided agencies, designers and companies from all over the world with a platform for the evaluation of their design and creative achievements. A total of 18 categories were available for participation, one of them is “Annual Reports”. In 2016, among others, the adidas Group Annual Report 2015 and the HOERBIGER Yearbook 2015 / 2016 were awarded the Red Dot: Best of the Best. More
